There is no single towing capacity for a model. Ratings shift with model year, engine, drivetrain, cab, bed, axle ratio and trim, which is why a number pulled from a generic table is often wrong for the vehicle sitting in the driveway.

Tow Capacities is built around that configuration level. The dataset holds 28,359 towing ratings across 28,622 configurations, 314 models and 31 makes, and the lookup narrows to the exact combination before returning a figure.

It works in both directions. Owners check what a vehicle can pull; buyers enter a loaded trailer weight and get vehicles that can handle it — with the payload arithmetic included, so passengers, cargo and tongue weight are subtracted rather than ignored. Where the site publishes highest ratings, they are described as the highest figure represented in the dataset rather than a best-vehicle ranking.
